The links on this page go to overhead views of the original id CTF maps and the maps in the Threewave map packs. If you have a "generation 4" or better web browser, with JavaScript enabled, you will be able to control the display of entities as icons on the map view. Some older browsers (like Netscape 4) incorrectly break some other functionality when you disable JavaScript, so for those browsers you may need to have JavaScript enabled just to see a sensible map picture at all, let alone use the entity display controls.
The map views are taken from a height of 4000 gameunits above flag level; from this height a player would be about 3 pixels wide. On the map view, you can display icons for any, some, or all of the entity types, for any selected gametype, using the control buttons below the map view. You can also toggle the display of the map view itself.

The idctf pages do not have gametype selector buttons, because those maps were created for only the original Q3CTF gametype. If they are used in Classic CTF or Team Arena the item placement will be the same.
Health bubbles, armor shards, and ammo boxes cannot be displayed.

Some entity icons may have text labels beside or below them. Labels are commonly used when more than one icon is in the same spot. This could be because the entities for those icons are on different levels but appear to be on the same spot when seen from above; it could be because the entities are "teamed" so that only one of them spawns at a time; or there really could be multiple entities spawning at the same location in the map. The labels exist to clear things up. For example, labels reading "GL high" and "RL low" mean that the grenade launcher is on a level above the rocket launcher. "R/R/H" would indicate a teamed set of two regen powerups and a haste powerup. "Q & GEN" means the quad powerup is in the same spot as the harvester skull generator.
The upper left corner of the map may also include text describing anything unusual about the items in the currently selected item type and gametype.
Everything else should be self-explanatory. Experiment and see what happens! If you're having troubled seeing a particular icon, try disabling the display of any entity types that you are not currently interested in, and/or toggling the map graphic off for a moment.
